80. Aniversary of giving a witness about concentration camps Auschwitz and Birkenau by Alfréd Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba
2nd place on a public competition by the Slovak National Bank
The coin was designed to carry the legacy of Vrba and Wetzler and their heroism in escaping the concentration camp. The background of the averse side depict the lack of information of what had been happening inside the camps and only thanks to their witness was it finally clarified. The middle symbolizes the jewish population as a Lily flower behind the barbed wire. The reverse side carries a harmonized composition, depicting the escaping pair, hiding between covers and running through the nights for the duration of three weeks.
