1400. Aniversary of the establishment of samo's empire
Coin design for a public contest by the Slovak National Bank
After consulting with experts, we made the decision to commemorate the establishment of the empire by incorporating authentic period ceramics, weaponry, and dwellings. These elements depict a village or settlement (averse). To capture the aesthetic preferences of the region's inhabitants during that era, we selected a fictional portrait, complemented by an intricately decorated helmet from archaeological findings. The sides of the portrait are harmoniously framed using a pattern inspired by period ceramics.
